A classic holiday green bean casserole baked with cream of mushroom soup, fresh green beans, topped with crispy fried onions and gooey cheese.

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half of the fried onions.
  4. Add the green beans and shredded cheese, mixing gently.
  5. Pour mixture into a baking dish and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Top with remaining fried onions and bake an additional 10 minutes until golden and crispy.
