- 1 whole turkey (12-14 lbs)
- 2 cups cornbread crumbs
- 4 cups green beans
- 3 large sweet potatoes
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the turkey by seasoning inside and out with salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning. Roast until golden brown and cooked through, about 3 hours.
- Bake cornbread according to package instructions. Once cooled, crumble and set aside.
- Peel and cube sweet potatoes, then boil until tender, about 15 minutes. Mash with butter, salt, and a touch of cinnamon.
- Steam green beans until tender, then season with salt and a little butter.
- Serve the turkey sliced with sides of cornbread, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce for a complete Southern feast.
Notes
- Adjust seasoning to taste. Use fresh herbs for extra flavor. Make gravy from turkey drippings if desired.
