- 4 large sweet potatoes (yams)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes and place in a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then stir in brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook until smooth and bubbly.
- Pour the caramel sauce over the sweet potatoes, tossing to coat evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, stirring halfway through, until yams are tender and caramel is bubbling.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans over the yams during the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Serve warm, drizzled with additional caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
- For extra richness, add a splash of bourbon to the caramel sauce.
- To make ahead, prepare to the baking stage and refrigerate. Reheat in the oven before serving.
